Trump Says He Will Be “Blowing Up and Completely Obliterating All of Their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island” If a Reasonable Deal With Iran Is Not Met Soon

“A Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight, Never to Be Brought Back Again,” President Trump Warns Iran — “One of the Most Important Moments in the Long and Complex History of the World. 47 Years of Extortion, Corruption, and Death Will Finally End”

President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States could escalate its military campaign in Iran by targeting critical infrastructure if ongoing negotiations fail to produce what he described as a “reasonable” agreement, outlining the potential destruction of key energy and utility facilities in a Truth Social post.

Trump wrote that the United States is engaged in “serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran,” adding that “great progress has been made.” He indicated that a deal is likely but warned of significant consequences if talks collapse. “If for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched,’” Trump said.

The president emphasized that these specific targets have so far been avoided, suggesting a strategic decision to limit long-term damage to Iran’s ability to rebuild. His comments point to a distinction between the current phase of military operations and a potential escalation that would focus on crippling the country’s core infrastructure. He framed the threat as retaliation, stating such action would come “in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror.’”

The remarks come as U.S. military operations in Iran continue under Operation Epic Fury, which began on February 28, 2026, under the direction of the president. According to U.S. Central Command, the campaign has focused on dismantling Iran’s security and military capabilities, prioritizing targets considered to pose imminent threats. As of March 28, more than 11,000 targets have been struck and over 11,000 combat flights have been conducted, with more than 150 Iranian vessels reported damaged or destroyed.

The operation has involved a wide array of U.S. military assets across air, sea, and land, including strategic bombers, stealth fighters, naval carrier groups, missile defense systems, and surveillance platforms. Targeted sites have included command and control centers, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facilities, missile systems, weapons production sites, and other elements of Iran’s military infrastructure. The campaign has also resulted in the deaths of Iran’s supreme leader along with more than 40 senior leaders and officials, marking a significant shift in the country’s leadership structure.

Trump’s latest statement underscores the potential for further escalation while negotiations continue. By highlighting both the progress in talks and the possibility of expanded strikes on critical infrastructure, the president signaled that the next phase of U.S. involvement could hinge on whether an agreement is reached in the near term.
