Trump Announces “We Are Getting Very Close To Meeting Our Objectives As We Consider Winding Down Our Great Military Efforts In The Middle East With Respect To The Terrorist Regime Of Iran”

Trump Warns Iran's Hard-Liners: "The Lunatics Want To Fight Until The End — It Will Be A Very Quick Fight" — As He Signals Absolute Confidence In U.S. Military Superiority

President Donald Trump said Saturday that U.S. military operations targeting Iran may be nearing a conclusion, outlining a series of objectives he described as largely achieved while signaling a potential winding down of what he called “great Military efforts in the Middle East.”

In a Truth Social post on March 21, Trump stated, “We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran,” before detailing a five-part framework that has guided the campaign. Those objectives, as described in the statement, include “completely degrading Iranian Missile Capability,” “destroying Iran’s Defense Industrial Base,” and “eliminating their Navy and Air Force, including Anti Aircraft Weaponry.”

The president also emphasized preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities, writing that the United States must remain in a position to “quickly and powerfully react” if such a development were to occur. In addition, he highlighted regional security priorities, stating that operations have focused on “protecting, at the highest level, our Middle Eastern Allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and others.”

Trump’s statement further addressed maritime security in the region, particularly the strategic Hormuz Strait. “The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not,” he wrote, adding that U.S. assistance would be available if requested but suggesting such involvement may not be necessary “once Iran’s threat is eradicated.” He characterized future enforcement efforts by regional partners as manageable, describing it as “an easy Military Operation for them.”

The remarks come weeks after U.S. Central Command launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28 under presidential direction. The campaign began with coordinated strikes by U.S. and partner forces targeting elements of Iran’s military infrastructure, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command centers, air defense systems, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields.

According to CENTCOM, the operation has involved one of the largest regional concentrations of American military force in decades. Early phases included precision strikes from air, land, and sea, as well as the combat deployment of low-cost one-way attack drones by Task Force Scorpion Strike.

Trump’s statement leaves the immediate future of the operation open-ended, indicating that while objectives are nearing completion, no final decision has been announced on whether strikes will fully cease or continue at a reduced level. By emphasizing both the progress made and the need to remain ready to respond “quickly and powerfully,” the president signaled that the situation remains under active evaluation, with the possibility of either winding down military engagement or maintaining pressure depending on developments involving Iran’s capabilities and actions.
