President Donald Trump urged Iran to take what he described as its final opportunity to end threats to the United States and its allies during a speech at the Memphis Safe Task Force Roundtable on March 23. He emphasized that the ongoing negotiations and military operations are critical to global security and underscored the urgency of reaching a resolution.
Trump said, “This mission that we are on together, much more important and we did it quicker. Iran’s missile capability also growing so fast that it would soon become virtually impossible to stop them. Once they have a missile, they have what they were building is incredible. You got a glimpse of it by the fact that when they came out they started shooting all the neighbors. The neighbors were not fighting with them. And I was surprised, everyone was surprised. That actually worked in reverse because their neighbors then turned against them. Now, Iran is one more opportunity to end its threats to America and our allies and we hope they take it. Other way, America in the entire world will be much safer and much more secure planet in addition to all of this, we are working on so many different things. Our economy was fantastic.”

Trump linked the urgency of diplomacy to the recent military campaign, Operation Epic Fury, which began on February 28, 2026. The operation targeted Iranian command centers, missile sites, naval assets, and air defenses with the goal of dismantling Iran’s capacity to project power and threaten regional and global stability. The president highlighted that the United States has systematically destroyed much of Iran’s military infrastructure and leadership, creating leverage for a potential negotiated settlement.
He described Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities as growing rapidly and difficult to contain, noting that the country’s neighbors had been alarmed by its aggressive actions. According to Trump, the military pressure applied by the United States and its allies has created a unique opportunity for Iran to negotiate, with the potential to avert further conflict.
Trump expressed confidence that a successful agreement would make the world significantly safer, framing it as a diplomatic alternative to continued military escalation. He suggested that the United States’ readiness to act decisively has been central to compelling Iran to engage seriously in discussions.
In addition to addressing Iran, Trump briefly highlighted broader U.S. accomplishments, including economic growth, and reiterated that the ongoing strategy aims to protect national security while promoting stability for allies. He concluded by insisting that the current negotiations represent a last chance for Iran to resolve its threats peacefully, with global safety and security as the ultimate stakes.
