WASHINGTON — Rep. Jason Crow said Saturday that the United States is “now in week 30 of Trump’s ‘2 to 3 week’ war with Iran,” quoting a March 31 clip in which President Donald Trump said the conflict would be over soon.
Crow, a Colorado Democrat, former Army Ranger, and member of the House Armed Services and Intelligence committees, posted the line on X at 9:35 a.m. Eastern on Sept. 26. He quoted a Breaking911 post from March 31 that summarized Trump as saying, “I think 2-3 weeks.”
We are now in week 30 of Trump’s “2 to 3 week” war with Iran.
The official record is the April 1 primetime address. In a White House release of those remarks, Trump said, “I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly — very shortly. We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks.” Stars and Stripes reported the same day that he told reporters in the Oval Office, “We’ll be leaving very soon,” and “I would say that within two weeks, maybe two weeks, maybe three.”
Operation Epic Fury began Feb. 28. A March 12 White House compilation quoted Trump on March 2 listing four objectives: missiles, the navy, a nuclear weapon, and proxy armies. NBC News reported the same ceremony included the line, “Right from the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have capability to go far longer than that.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on March 6 that “achievable objectives” were expected to last “about four to six weeks.” Feb. 28 to Sept. 26 is 30 weeks.
An April 8 White House release said Iran had agreed to a ceasefire and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz after 38 days of major combat. Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was quoted saying the joint force had achieved the military objectives the president defined. Carrier deployments, later strikes, and war-powers votes continued after that statement.
Crow is a cosponsor of H. Con. Res. 89, introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, directing the president under section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to remove U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran. The House adopted it 214–208 on July 23. The Senate failed it 49–50 on Sept. 24, Record Vote 244. Four Republicans — Sens. Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Thom Tillis — voted yes. Sen. John Fetterman voted no. Crow’s office said on Sept. 17 that the House that week had again passed a Crow-backed war-powers measure with bipartisan support.
Crow’s “2 to 3 week” phrase tracks the April White House wording. Those texts described objectives as nearing completion. They did not set a calendar date for the last strike or the last ship home. Crow’s Saturday post adds no new casualty or cost figure. It is a count of weeks from Feb. 28 to Sept. 26. Colorado’s 6th District votes Nov. 3.
