Two IDF Air Force Technicians Indicted for Spying for Iran in Exchange for Financial Compensation

Two Israeli Air Force technicians have been indicted on espionage charges for allegedly working on behalf of Iranian intelligence in exchange for money, Israeli authorities announced on April 23, 2026.

The indictment was filed following a joint investigation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), the IDF, and the Israel Police.

According to the joint official statement released by the three agencies, the two soldiers — who served as technicians at an air base — maintained contact with Iranian intelligence agents for several months before their arrest in March 2026.

They are accused of carrying out missions for Iran, including passing training materials on Israeli combat jet systems and documenting military base infrastructure. They were also reportedly tasked with gathering information on former IDF Chief Lt.-Gen. (ret.) Herzi Halevi and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

One soldier faces serious charges including aiding an enemy in wartime and passing information to the enemy. The second faces charges of contact with a foreign agent and passing information to the enemy.

The soldiers claimed during interrogation that their Iranian handlers cut contact after they refused missions involving weapons, but they later tried to re-initiate communication.

Eight other soldiers on the base are suspected of knowing about the activities and failing to report them.
