“We Are in Very Deep Negotiations With Iran — We Win Regardless,” President Trump Insists

President Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States remains engaged in intensive negotiations with Iran, while maintaining that the outcome of those talks will not alter what he described as an already secured military victory.

“We’re going to see what happens. We are in very deep negotiations with Iran. We win regardless. We’ve defeated them militarily. They’ve dropped a couple of water mines, you call them water mines in the boat. We’ve defeated all of their water boats too. Their navy has gone 158 ships. They have 28 water droppers, mine droppers they call them. All of them are sunk,” Trump said, outlining his view of the battlefield situation.

The comments come as U.S. officials, led by Vice President JD Vance, are engaged in extended, high-level talks with Iranian counterparts in Islamabad. The negotiations, mediated by Pakistan, have stretched for more than 15 hours, marking the most significant direct engagement between the two sides in decades following weeks of conflict.

A central issue in the discussions remains control of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that Iran moved to restrict earlier in the conflict. U.S. officials have simultaneously begun operations aimed at clearing naval mines from the waterway, even as diplomatic efforts continue.

Trump’s remarks reflect a dual-track approach in which negotiations proceed alongside assertions of overwhelming military success. By emphasizing both ongoing diplomacy and what he described as the destruction of Iran’s naval capabilities, he signaled that the United States is pursuing a resolution from a position he repeatedly characterized as decisive strength.
