$500 Million Investment Secures America’s Munitions Future

The Department of War and Honeywell Aerospace announced an agreement on Wednesday to increase production of components for the United States’ munitions stockpile, including navigation systems, actuators, and electronic warfare equipment.

Under the framework, Honeywell Aerospace will invest $500 million over multiple years to expand and modernize its manufacturing capacity. The Department of War said the agreement provides long-term demand for critical munitions, aiming to strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base and ensure readiness for military operations.

The initiative is part of the Department’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy, which seeks to boost production across the defense supply chain by engaging directly with key suppliers rather than focusing only on prime contractors. Officials said the approach is intended to create a more resilient and responsive industrial base capable of meeting military needs at scale.

Honeywell Aerospace will accelerate production of systems that support precision-guided munitions, high-performance actuators for missile maneuverability, and advanced electronic warfare technologies.

Michael Duffey, Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, said the investment demonstrates the success of the strategy to provide long-term demand signals that encourage private-sector investment. The Department credited the initiative to leadership from President Donald Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

The agreement involved coordination with the Department’s Munitions Acceleration Council and major defense contractors, including Lockheed Martin and RTX, to ensure that demand for critical components reaches suppliers such as Honeywell Aerospace.
